It's official, I have been transformed into a cougar
I am pleased to announce that I have been accepted to BYU-P along with my brother. Thank goodness the stress of waiting for an acceptance letter is over. Now newfound stresses have arose such as, money, time, cleaning and packing, and whether or not to cut my hair or continue to let it grow out. lol. Anywho, the main point of this post is to hopefully get some advice for college as I prepare to embark on this new journey. Also if anyone has some handy dandy recipies that they wouldn't mind sharing, since I am going to try to make the majority of my food to avoid fattening cafeteria food. lol. I was telling Celeste the other day that it was a good thing I got into BYU otherwise I wouldn't be able to continue whereing my cougar sweatshirt. ^_^

add vegetables to everything - it's a great way to eat healthfully on campus. Make regular spaghetti and toss in some zucchini or broccoli or peas. And you will be getting so much exercise in Provo walking to class and to the library - I kind of miss living in a walking city. We definitely live in a driving city!
amen to what Celeste said. I used to buy the creamy ramen packages (next to nothing) and add as much frozen veggies as I could stand ( cheapest package I could find) So basically, the ramen was for flavoring-definitely not for nutrition- and to make it easier to eat a ton of vegetables. Also , if you can find a friend who has a Sam's club card or Costco- maybe they wouldn't mind picking up frozen fruit for you from there, and a bag of protein powder. Add that protein powder to every smoothie you make. During the winter, you are going to crave anything that has tons of carbs- so watch out. Another thing that helps us even now is to ixnay with the milk. Buy a box of soy or rice milk- it lasts forever and can be kept under your bed- open a small package at a time. I think soy milk is better if you're not used to the taste and make sure its good and cold before you drink it. Then when you use it in your cereal (which you will be sure to eat a LOT of) add some water because soy tends to be thicker and sweet. It might take some getting used to but I think its well worth it.
As for other stuff- amazing how cutting our hair and considering money ranks up there in equal importance! I know it might sound silly to someone else but Im with ya girl- the first impression is always so important to everyone..
My vote is always for long hair- if anything, just because you don't have many years left where you can wear long hair with reckless abandon! hahaha..
Last- maybe start talking about roommate issues now- reading up on it and how people dealt with it. I was mostly easy going about it because I didn't want to do what my other friends were doing and getting into huge fights. Then again, I had some pretty great roommates. When I hear people talk about their college days, they always mention being poor, tough teachers and classes, some random boyfriend but most of all- they talk about horrible experiences with roommates. It made me wonder if going into it assuming that some of your roommates wouldn't be peachy and choosing to look for the good in them before it got bad would make all the difference in the world. No matter what tho- YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT SO MUCH!!1 I am so excited for both of you, what a great time this will be!
ps as for some actual recipes- I will try to gather a few and email them to your mom if I come across something easy, healthy and yummy
Hi Camille, I have a recipe book that has some of my favorites - when you are out here I will print you off one. There are desserts too, but lots of other stuff. Remind me or I will forget.
